Do American VCs sponsor working visas?

Context: I am rising senior at a European semi target university in the UK. I have interned in Big 4 and at a top European VC and am keen to pursue a career in the United States.

My question relates to whether or not US VCs frequently sponsor work visas foreign nations. I am obviously aware that breaking into VC anywhere is largely based on your network but broadly, I am wondering whether anybody has heard of this happening in the industry? Additionally, any advice on how I should approach recruiting given these circumstances would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t really know this for sure but here’s what I’d assume: probably not. VCs are usually lean teams, meaning already tight salary budgets, and could hire the same talent in the US rather than sponsoring a visa for an international hire.

I’d look into growth equity or tech PE at some of the bigger firms. They do sponsor visas given larger fund sizes and more management fees meaning a larger hiring budget. That’s where I’d start, but there also many good VC shops all over Europe.
