ESG in PE, IBD, VC
Hey yall, this is my first post. I've been seeing a greater focus on companies who are on the path towards sustainability. Do these investment industries prefer these types of companies and is there more room for risk when it comes to companies that are implementing new ways to achieve ESG? As bankers and sources of funding, we have the ability to initiate a shift in the world and basically determine which companies make it big and which do not, simply by the decision to fund or not. How is this viewed within industry? Is this a big focus or is it a sideline topic, too soon to make substantial investments in. Also, how are companies that have large contributions towards resource consumption viewed today? Is ESG a value held by many people or is it more of an obligation being tended to? I want to get into the private equity industry because I think that it is the best way I can do my part towards improving the world even if it is indirectly. I want to eventually be able to help with M&A for companies that are great in their industry and small enough to make proper changes to that would make them more sustainable.
