Growth Equity - 2023 1st Year Associate Comp Discussion

Hey All,

Figured we'd get a separate thread as VC comp understates and traditional PE comp overstates Growth Equity comp. Interested to hear data for 1st Year Associates:

  • Fund Size
  • Location
  • Comp (Base, Bonus, Co-Invest, Signing, Relo, Sourcing bonuses etc)
  • Expected hours

I'll kick it off:

  • Fund Size: ~$3bn AUM
  • Location: SF
  • Comp (Base, Bonus, Co-Invest, Signing, Relo, Sourcing bonuses etc): Base: 150k, Target bonus (inc sourcing) 150-175k; All in cash comp ~325k.

Appreciate u kicking this off. Ignore title - im a first year associate after doing 2 yrs of IB.

Fund size: ~$2bn latest, ~$8bn AUM

Comp: $140 base, ~$120 cash bonus, sourcing bonus that can be as high as $50k+ but wont include since its rare to source a deal your first year.

Location: Tier 2 east coast (bit city thats not NYC)

Can anyone provide insight into how the comp scales as you go 1st-2nd-Senior->VP in Growth Equity. Feel like theres not much info on here about it. Also hours at each level would be awesome
