Growth Equity Associates
Hey all, I'm wondering how a day in the life for an associate at a growth capital/growth equity PE fund differs from an associate at an LBO shop. Is there much less modeling/what sort of learning do you get?

The vast majority of growth equity firms follow the sourcing model. The ones that don't (e.g. Warburg Pincus... I think) are more like typical buyout firms, except they'll have more of a tech angle and may also be open to minority growth equity type investments.

Hey Monkeys,
I know there's a decent amount of information on this site regarding growth equity regarding the sourcing model, difference from LBOs, compensation, career track, etc., but I was wondering if any current Associates in the field could speak more in depth towards their experiences in the industry. Particularly interested in hearing from those who have been able to source, structure, and close proprietary deals and get insight into the process from start to finish. Also, did your performance in closing the deal affect year end bonus in any way?
Current analyst interested in the space. Would appreciate any information!
