Growth Equity Recruiting from IB

Hi all -

I'm an incoming BB IB analyst interested in growth equity. Was hoping to get some more information on the recruiting process for GE shops.

Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated:

  • Who are the top HH?
  • Is the process as early as MF and UMM buyout shops?
  • Are modeling tests or case studies typical?
  • Are most associate programs 2 and out?
  • Are TMT groups typically favored?

Who are the top HH? The usual suspects (CPI, Glocap probs top two)

Is the process as early as MF and UMM buyout shops? Highly depends on firm but some do go oncycle (didn't actively recruit for this but remember getting emails about TA / TCV / TPG Growth oncycle and Accel, Summit, Norwest offcycle

Are modeling tests or case studies typical? Yes

Are most associate programs 2 and out? Depends on firm, somewhere in between on average

Are TMT groups typically favored? To a certain extent but a lot of these funds also invest in consumer and other verticals so plenty of groups other groups can also be a good fit
