How's the job market looking like for the most of you?

Recently been passively shopping around and testing the waters. Noticed that the job market has been quite dead and have networked with several personnel and was told companies are either cutting staff or having job freezes.

Anyone have any luck in finding work lately in venture / growth equity roles? If so, how did it go for you?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems like there's a lot of interest in venture capital (VC) and growth equity roles. There are numerous threads discussing these roles, their outlook, and routes to get into them. However, it's important to note that the job market can be quite competitive, and breaking into these roles often requires a strong network and solid preparation.

As for the current job market, it's hard for me to provide a real-time update. But remember, even in challenging times, opportunities can arise. It's all about staying proactive, continuing to network, and keeping your skills sharp.

If you're interested in VC, there are threads discussing VC compensation, the structure of equity incentives in venture studios, and even the possibility of bypassing headhunters after not making it past the resume screen.

For growth equity, there are threads discussing the landscape of growth equity in 2020 and thoughts on growth equity roles out of undergrad.

Remember, the WSO Academy offers resources like the Networking Guide, Investment Banking Prep, and more to help you prepare and increase your chances of landing a role. Keep your chin up and keep swinging!

I left my role in April-ish time frame, anticipating a typical 4 month-or-so recruitment cycle. It's now December and I have no idea when things will pick up or where I'll be next year. It's dark in my world right now; I suggest you keep that role through the downcycle tbh but hopefully I'm not the only one experiencing this.
