Internship at Major VC Portfolio Company to VC Out of Undergrad

I currently have an internship in corporate finance and development at a very well known pre-ipo company that has received roughly $100 million from a who's who of vc's. I really want to work at this company full-time, but if that does not come to fruition how would a VC look at my experience at such a company, particularly if it was one of the companies they have invested in? I am at a non-target, by the way.

how many rounds has it gone through. 100 MM is pretty good. Man I wouldn't even think about trying to get into VC if I were you. Just kick ass there, work there out of school, and cash in options.

You'll be one of those assholes everyone on this board hates because they got "lucky" picking the right startup and has more net worth than the people who stuck with IB/PE/HF

This is definitely the plan. I just want to make sure I have some backup plans which don't seem to compare to what I have now.

Agree with couchy. Take the offer from that portfolio company, if you get it. You may make more money at IPO than any other paths you may take (direct VC path included). A guy who works at my fund started out of undergrad in a pre-IPO company, got tons of options and made 7 figures upon the sale of the company 3 years out of undergrad... then he got into VC through the network he had created at that company, and especially, because of his experience. He then got his MBA, then got back to VC...

That kind of operating experience out of undergrad is extremely valuable to a VC. Do it.
Start calling & emailing bankers. Its just like picking up a chick at a bar, AKA it’s a straight numbers game. Sure good looks at the bar help you get chicks and a Harvard education helps get you into investment banking, but every day ugly guys are getting laid and non-target school guys are getting into investment banks. The simple reason is the ugly guy asked enough chicks and the non-target guy asked enough bankers. I am not sure if these guys are still around but I used them when I was emailing & calling banks. www.firstwallstreetjob.com
please keep spamming this post because it's very useful and people will actually visit your shitty website. faggot.
