Offer from small VC firm - to take it or not?

Hi guys. I needed an opinion on this - Currently I have an offer from a VC firm : a few months of probationary employment with a basic stipend at the end of which I will be evaluated and taken on as a full time employee accordingly. It's a $5mn fund, and almost the entire fund is deployed. Not a very big team. They'll be raising their second fund in the coming few months. A little background on me - I live in india, just completed my bachelor's. My ultimate aim is to go for Oxford's MFE program or LSE's MSc Finance and pursue a career in VC. I have an offer from an MBB in their research practice.

What would be the pros and cons of these two options? (both from a getting admission point of view and getting a job in IB/VC post my masters ? ) Please help me out!

If you really want to gain some experience at a VC fund to have it on your resume, try it out. 5M is a very very small sized firm so Im guessing they will take advantage of having you as a temp worker. IN other words, it benefits them a lot more as they will probably give you a lot of work without having to pay for a full time employee. However, this could be a good opportunity for you to gain some insight. My guess is that they will not have enough $$$ to actually make you an offer at the end. If your expectations are low for getting a full time at the fund with the hopes of learning, go for the VC. If your goal is for a full time job, take the research practice position
