Looks good for eventual VC, and would likely be great entrepreneurial training as you watched the CFO/CEO execute. The great thing about some positions like the one you described is the potential for you to position yourself as "jack of all trades" and get your fingers in anywhere the company needs help solving problems. That kind of experience is fun as hell, and is a great learning experience.

I'd take it in a heart beat man. Sounds like you'll get SOLID experience, especially reporting to the top executives who are being backed by, according to you, high profile VCs.

Make sure it's a good team, and that hopefully youll get senior exposure.

The biggest change I've noticed since moving from M&A to a startup is how fast circumstances can change, and while it is a great skillset to be a jack of all trades, you can also easily fall by the wayside. I joined my startup early this year when it was 300 strong, now its over 500 - and it has been challenging to keep up in terms of the type of work and making sure you're still in a good spot. Having a senior person look out for you (similar to banking) is hugely important if you plan to stick around for a few years and want to learn the right stuff.

Best of luck - sounds like a good opportunity.

Yeah..

Well,

Right now, I'm not in M&A, but @ a solid consulting firm. may 2010 grad. Been here since May..

Just not sure, I would hate it if the company went out of business, and i'd be the only Financial Analyst on the team......

I have a VC internship, and ideally would like to go to a great MBA and figure out where I want to go after, (maybe VC, Corp Dev, IB).

Any thoughts?

If you kind of like consulting, you should stick it out for at least 12 months, so the experienced is solid. Especially if you want to do i-banking down the road. I-banks think consultants don't work long hours, so they may think you got burned out in a short amount of time.

If you want to do VC down the road, you lock down experience at a couple of VC-backed companies and then go to b-school. VC is very tough industry to crack
