Actual technical skills in IB

You guys all probably know BIWS and CFI materials that teach DCF, LBO, and shits.

Are those aligned with reality? I mean do we actually follow the steps outlined in those materials?

I.e. When doing a DCF analysis, we just get all financial data (=financial statements), calculate important ratios/trends, make assumptions based on these (and additional research), project financial statements, calculate their FCFF and WACC, and discount them by using WACC? I wanna know how the reality is. Also, do I-bankers do all these?
