Advice - Couple of offers

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and was just seeking a little advice. I have a couple of options and have no clue which one to take. Right now I have a couple of offers for some back office work at some banks. I have also been accepted into Vandy MSF and my local college who offered me a full ride. I plan on taking the CFA® in December no matter what option I take. My question mainly is which will help me in the long run for my goal to become an analyst, and is Vandy really worth the 45K tuition bill?

A) working in operations you might as well be working anywhere, it's not any "closer" to what you want to do. B) it's not like there's some recipe and you're Emeril throwing things into a pot - back office, bam!...CFA, bam!...and out of the oven pops an equity research position.

Why aren't you just trying to get hired in entry level positions at where you want to be?

Ya, Ops is no closer to front office than any other job. A previous thread discussed this and another poster summed it up perfectly. Just because the logo on your business card is the same doesn't mean you have any better shot of going from BO to FO as anyone else.

Only your can decide is 45K is really worth it. Will Vandy be a better name on your resume than your current university? Will you have access to more banks, alumni, etc by going there. A lot of thought has to go into your choice.

CFA L1 will be great to have on your resume, but it won't guarantee you a shot in ER. Best bet is to just look for smaller shops and try and move up.
