Advice: drop second major for GPA?

Could use some advice. I had some medical issues last year, and had a bad semester which really cratered my gpa. I managed to secure an SA role at a bank, but I'm worried that my gpa (3.6) will impact future buyside recruiting. I'm currently majoring in math and econ, and while I've done a lot of the math major, I have a number of really tricky classes to take.

The math major is a point of pride, but I'm wondering if I should drop it to try and pad out my gpa for the next two years (maybe I could do a minor). Could I explain to a HH that I had a medical problem for that semester? Would math + econ and a lower gpa look better than straight econ with a slightly higher gpa? I really don't know what to do here, and am hoping someone with experience recruiting/with HH/hiring could give me some guidance.

Yes. Drop the math major. You will thank me later and forever. I doubled in math and Econ and trust me it is not worth it at all.

I understand that it is a point of pride. I’m proud of my double major now that I have it. But if I could go back, I would’ve only majored in something easy and minored in something hard. My GPA would’ve been .1-.2 or more higher and I would’ve had a lot more fun, been a lot less stressed, and worked out an extra couple days a week.

Oh and if your post is just a humblebrag then… nice humblebrag.

Not meant to come across as a humblebrag at all—sorry if it did. It’s been a really tough year and I wanna not have it affect my future too much. Thanks for the advice!

Bump I accepted an SA offer for next summer and told them I was a double major in finance and another major. I told them I was double majoring in interviews but now I'm probably gonna drop the other major and just do finance. Do I need to tell HR and will they care at all?
