When to follow up with a recruiter after a superday?
Hi all,
I had my superday a week ago for an accelerated 2018 summer analyst role at GS. I was told by a recruiter that I'd hear back within a week at the latest. So far I've heard nothing. I know it's only been a week, but I've heard of people finding out within a day or two for certain divisions. I also noticed that on WSO another superday candidate posted his/her interview questions and said he/she didn't get the offer. What does this mean if I haven't heard back but another candidate has? I'm fairly sure we're in the same boat because we're both accelerated, NYC, August, and the same division.
I've just been a bit nervous so any input is appreciated. If I don't hear back within the next few days, would it be appropriate to follow up? Should I wait another week or two? There were only three candidates at my superday, and since we're accelerated, I'm fairly sure there's no waitlist or anything of that sort.
They'll reach out to you.
was this for the imd superday 8/16
I had a superday at Lazard on 8/30, and still haven't heard anything... don't firms always get back to you regardless of whether you got it or not?
it depends where you rank in terms of offers. They usually send out offers pretty fast for superdays but can depend if you are a backup if someone declines but not sure how the accelerated ones work. For example, I once had a BB superday the week of Halloween but didn't get an offer until the week before Thanksgiving. Someone ahead of me probably took their full 2 weeks to think about an offer and turned it down.
Hmm yeah, that makes sense - thanks. The wait is definitely a killer and not getting a response when I followed up definitely doesn't make it any better haha
I just hope they didn't already reject and just didn't bother to even let me know, I would at least want a simple email or call letting me know that I didn't get it especially after I flew out to make it to their superday
what was your outcome? I had a superday on 12/7 and it is now 1/10. I am hoping the decision is slow because of the holiday
This is a super delayed response so I apologize, but I guess it can serve as a reference for future accelerated candidates. I got the offer a week later via phone call! I think I was the first round of accelerated candidates (I interviewed on a Tuesday and I saw signs for superdays taking place on Thursday as well). Most other people in my division didn't begin getting interviewed until October or November.
After MM Superday - Follow up with HR? (Originally Posted: 09/09/2017)
Hi all,
I had a superday with a team in a large MM bank last week. I thought it went relatively well, though there were a few red flags throughout (i.e - a couple of the interviewers seemed engrossed in their blackberries, one had to leave for like 10 minutes right in the middle of our discussion, one associate asked me what I'd do if I didn't get an offer..).
I sent thank you emails shortly after it ended, and received replies from two of them - one was very boilerplate ("enjoyed our conversation, thank you for your interest in our firm and reach out if you'd ever like to talk about Firm or banking in the future", "no problem, we'll be in touch")
However, that was 3 business days ago and I still haven't heard back. On Monday it'll be 6 total days since the Superday - should I reach out to HR and ask the status??
I heard that if they like you, they'll let you know right away. Was I rejected?
bump
what was your outcome? How long did you wait until you heard back?
If it's been a week since Superday, who is the best person to follow up with? (Originally Posted: 10/20/2017)

Kxolw, shame nobody has responded. Maybe one of these topics will help:
More suggestions...
You're welcome.
I believe for superday decisions are usually made relatively quick, within a few days. Lateral hires can take a bit longer. I would wait until next week to contact them though.
Makes sense, this was for an Analyst role (campus hire) so it's probably either a waitlist or ding.
Who would be the best person to contact? HR was silent when I emailed them yesterday (saying let me know if there's anything I can provide). Should I email them again, or just email one of the bankers? If one of the bankers - maybe an Analyst that I met?
Full- Time Analyst was told that I would hear back by today for Superday at the latest. Do I follow up? (Originally Posted: 10/05/2017)
Hey, guys, I interviewed with a middle market firm on campus a few days ago. The interview was neutral, but I walked in with two firm members rooting for me, and I killed it at the preinterview event. I was the only nonbusiness major and girl. The super day is tomorrow evening and Saturday. I was told that I would hear back today at the latest... ugh the suspense. Do I follow up?
Yeah I’d follow up.
It was mainly the MD and the Director handling the recruiting and interview. How would I word it? Because I sent them thank you emails
Superday Follow up Conversation (Originally Posted: 04/14/2012)
I recently had a superday interview, and I got an email from the HR rep that I have been working with that a Senior member of the group I interviewed with wanted to have a follow up conversation with me. I've never heard of this happening, any ideas what it means?
Decent firms will actually call after superdays to deliver the news. If it were bad news, however, you normally would receive it in either your email or a single call will be made (and the news left on the voicemail if you weren't caught). I doubt anyone would schedule a call to make sure you answer to deliver bad news, so it's GOOD NEWS!
As SenseOfUrgency said, "Congrats!" Most likely an offer.
At worst, they want to hire you but you are effectively waitlisted (still a positive thing, waitlists aren't long) or a question they want to see how you respond to.
It's good news
Congrats broski.
Probably good news, but I wouldn't necessarily assume it's an offer. Could be a tiebreaker between you and another candidate...
Most likely additional interview questions. Had this happen to me.
They did ask me a couple questions (I apparently had answered a brain teaser so quickly they were worried I had heard it before, I haven't btw) and then asked for a recommendation from a professor, the next day they offered me the job. Thanks for the help!
