Summer Internship Background check
Hi everyone,
Could need some help and opinions about administrative steps concerning SA recruitement process.
I know banks do background checks for candidates during CV screening and all ... but does that mean recruiters will contact my firm and ask them if I'm really doing what I mentioned on my resume??
The thing is my firm isn't supposed to know I'm even considering applying for summer internships, as I technically can't resign or quit before 2016 ... However, If I have a summer I know I'll quit, I'll just have to figure out how (and justify it) ..
Can anyone help me with this matter please? Any opinions are really appreciated..
Thanks in advance
Nope. Don't worry.
You'll be fine
I had to do a SA background check this year for a BB. It was outsourced to an external company. They never checked with previous employers did I do what was listed on my resume, instead they just looked for a lot of paper work (beginning, middle, and end paychecks, work cessation tax sheets), 2 references, and permission to contact my place of education. AFAIK my resume wasn't even passed to them, I had to fill out a separate form detailing my previous employers and positions but not a description of my position.
That said, 2 people applying to the SA position this year listed bullshit on their CV that they didn't do, the interviewer suspected them of this so had them reinterviewed by a person more experienced in the area who quickly determined they were lying. They didn't get the position and were blacklisted from the firm so I'd be very careful of what you put down.
Wouldn't worry about it.
that's great news! thanks everyone

Only after they give you an offer.
.
Of course they will. But that wont be a problem for you at that point because theyll already have extended the offer, so if you get fired by your current employer before starting work at the other place, its nbd, because youll already have the offer.
Theyll probably just make sure you worked there. Probably wont let anything else go because of potential lawsuits, but youll probably be asked to provide pay stubs.
.
I dont see why that would be an issue so long as youre not currently working with the new firm/having access to any confidential information while also getting payed by the current firm. People do this constantly.

Background Check - What do past employers ask for when they conduct checks? (Originally Posted: 10/28/2007)
What do they ask your past employers when they conduct a background check? Are they simply looking to verify that you worked there or are they looking for your performance as well? Assuming you didn't get an offer from your past firm, this means you weren't a high performer. Doesn't this hurt your chances of getting a job at the place your applying to? Anyway to get around this? As in listing an employee of the firm that you were friendly with? Just curious.
They do a background check after they have already accepted you. I would think they just check for straight facts, i.e. you worked there, you received an offer and there wasn't anything glaringly wrong. If your past employers didn't completely hate you then you will be more than fine.

Is there even really a background check at all for analysts?
uhh... yea.
They have to make sure you aren't a liar, criminal, or schmuck. If you don't pass the background check, then they can't insure against you screwing up.
Definitely do a background check for the obvious stuff: convictions, warrants, possibly credit, confirming educational institutions, grades, and dates of past work. Doesn't matter if you got an offer from the last firm or not, unless you totally misrepresented that during the interview process.
Basically, all you have to do is not lie on your resume, pass the drug test, and not be on the run from the law. Don't sweat the rest of it, unless you can't even cover that bare minimum of hireability.

Iceman, calm down. This thread was three years old. You've already started multiple new threads on background checks and have numerous replies with good information.
Background Check for summer analyst question (Originally Posted: 02/20/2007)
Hey guys,
Just got an offer for summer analyst at a BB and was wondering what things will be checked in background checks, specifically what background screening firms will check when calling references listed from prior work experience.
Thanks
