Blackstone Middle Office Role - What comes next?
Hello! Seeking some advice here. (First-time poster, please excuse any dumb shit.)
I'm expecting an offer at Blackstone for their valuations team inside the private equity team. Specifically, the team focuses on updating the valuation and performance results for each of the completed deals throughout the holding period, forecasting financials, as well as collaborating with the deals team on occasion for building out of new models and investor relations, to share the 'story' with LPs. The group makes regular presentations "senior management" about the value of the portfolios, and how each fund is doing and why. The team covers all of Blackstone's PE and TacOps business, so there are numerous financial instruments and industries that the team sees on the day-to-day.
How do you guys think of the exits for this opportunity? It's not front-office, so I'm always curious how much value-add you get from working at Blackstone while not being front-office.
I'm probably looking to go for my MBA not too long after this role - how much do you think the Blackstone brand helps? I have some other offers at other firms that pay better and seem more enjoyable, but I'm not sure have the same long-term rewards or exposure/learning. I imagine I'd probably work in tech/a more 'fun' company post-MBA, rather than sticking around in the industry.
Any and all thoughts would be much appreciated!
