BP traders
I know that it takes 3 years to become a trader for BP and that the P&L you take when you are a trader is less than the percentage you get from IB's but does anyone know how the base and bonus works those first 3 years when you aren't actually trading?
Thanks
The question is why do you want to work for them? Are you trying to focus on energy trading (long term) specifically? I've been at a couple of their presentations and around when they do their simulations and I was quite unimpressed to say the least and the people working there were even more unimpressive to say the least. I've heard their trading operations also haven't been doing so hot.
interviewed there, trading revenue was $4bn+ globally last year. they do a lot of prop
They pay same as BB salary, 20-50% bonus.
its a good program if you can get in and not looking to make $$ early on. Name of the game in trading is shopping your pnl. If you dont want ot do that then stay put at a place and you will be fine.
are you saying that after they become traders they typically have a relatively high pnl?
not at all
BP trades only certain products in very specific markets. For this reason circa summer 2010 they were the largest elephant in the room. Working for BP has many advantages and the further up you get up the totem pole based on quality of life/P&L the traders do very well for themselves.
anyone know if bp is still looking to continue hiring traders? has trading at bp become less desirable due to the spill? I read a lot of traders at bp have left
Heavy Oil London office was hit hard. But as mentioned were in stage 1 of many for this whole gulf mess.
They are hiring traders and its business as usual. The 800 pound gorilla doesn't just die over night.
They pay same as BB salary, 20-50% bonus.
