No surprise. UVA is very strong and places extremely well. I know a lot of kids that went to UVA over HYP simply because of the cost. Don't underestimate anyone from UVA simply because it's a state school.
Top 5 undergrad business school, says USNWR

They have a fiercely loyal alumni network. UVA kids aren't everywhere, but they're present in strong numbers where they are.
a lot of the loyalty has to do with having a strong greek system as well. friend at a BB said that 4/5 of the UVa guys they took one year were all in the same fraternity as the MD
Definitely very loyal alumni. UVa kids are strong candidates as well and can usually hit the ground running relatively smoothly terms of finance knowledge.
All of the above plus most are not uber nerds like you get from some of the finance factories so are more enjoyable to work and shoot the breeze with.
I spent a year at McIntire as part of the MS in Commerce program and am not surprised at all. The faculty are top-notch and they do a great job of admitting talented "work hard, play hard" type kids to the business school. Standards are especially tough for undergrads trying to get admitted- I've heard stories of people with 3.7s not getting in.
UVA is def solid. Wouldnt mind doing the ole MBA there
Great! Yeah I heard that Julian Robertson (Tiger) is very close to the school and has a building named after him. That alumni base must be very very solid I suppose.
John Griffin (Blue Ridge) donated the money for the building and named it after Robertson, his mentor.
i've seen this at my bank too. UVA alums pull for their kids hard.
Lee Ainslie is another UVA alum / Tiger Cub too.
Placement results for the class of 2014 (prior summer internships ~310 students):
13 JPM 11 Citi 5 Barclays 5 Lazard 5 CS 4 Houlihan 4 Wells Fargo 3 Goldman 3 MS 3 Jefferies

That's for each company as a whole, not just for IB.
Yeah the greek system plays its part, but those numbers are actually so good, especially since their business school is only 300 kids. 13 JPM, 5 Lazard, 4 HL...that's absolutely insane, especially because this school is so underrated.
LOL!
