Is there any context I’m missing here? As long as you’re providing value or showing you did your research before contacting someone, they’ll usually respond (if they check it)

My advice regarding reaching out on Linkedin is just to make sure the person you message is active, typically the younger employees are better (associate to VP). You can just check how many connections they have, any recent liked posts, or shared articles. The more recent the better. Then its just like a cold email, keep it brief, no grammar errors, and give them a reason to want to respond to you. They'll immediately look at your profile so make sure your profile is as full as it can be, some detail about your roles/internships, school + extracurriculars, obviously you want to have a picture and make sure you follow some pages/interests, HBR, WSJ, FT, Bloomberg, whatever you like reading about. You can't be surprised if you get ignored, it is what it is. I still reach out to people this way, I have no issue reaching out to someone if they post something interesting or they indicate that they're group is looking for someone or whatever the case is and its got me quite a few phone calls + interviews. Its a good way to expand your network at the minimum.
