I wouldn't worry about a career on Wall Street precluding you from a role in the Democratic party. Just because right now the party hates Wall Street doesn't mean they will 10-15 years from now. Most Treasury department heads regardless of party come from Wall Street. Also Jon Corzine was at Goldman for 25ish years and then a senator and NJ governor at some point.
Phil Murphy (NJ gov) was at GS for like 23 years, so I don't think it'll be a problem. I'd say take the finance route, make some money, and later in life you can reevaluate whether or not you want to go into politics.
Assuming you're 22 or 23, you've probably got at least 15-20 years (probably more) before you'd have a chance of winning a statewide election. And when it comes to being electable, most voters won't really care that you worked as a staffer or field organizer on a congressional campaign when you were 23, so starting in politics now probably won't help much.
