CNN article U.S. falling off a cliff

Hello I'm currently living in China, graduated from a Shanghai university, but have been keeping up with news from the U.S. since I used to live there. For the last few years I've been seeing articles from Forbes, the Economist, other publications basically questioning the likelihood of the U.S. currency and maybe the entire economy collapsing. This is the first time I've seen a mainstream (for the non-finance/business/economics masses) say anything to this effect. How seriously do any of you take this article( or at least the title)?

The US will default on its debt IF the debt ceiling isn’t raised by congress by a certain date.  A certain political party (the one most of this forum supports) won’t support raising the debt ceiling because they want Biden to fail.

The good news is, that party is out of power, and it’s just theatrics to get in the way of things.  But if it doesn’t get raised soon then there could be far reaching economic consequences.

Do you see any potential strategic moves China could make if something like this does happen? They already made it known they want the RMB to be the international currency. Could something to that effect actually be possible if US does default and it affects the value of the dollar?

Oh yeah, not giving you a hard time at all. The headline did exactly what it was supposed to and you were intelligent enough to see that there wasn't much support.

We just don't need 24 hours of news coverage with 23.5 hours of poly Sci assholes giving their opinions and pimping their new books on why the other party's guy is bad but their guy is the savior.

The US would be a lot better off going back to non-opinionated news for 1 hour a day - 30 minutes in the morning, 30 in the evening.
