Could someone please clarify what this position entails? Is this front office?

Hey WSO,

I've been a long time lurker of this forum. I'm about to graduate from my undergrad at a non-target and have been interviewing at a few firms. I'm a bit curious on whether anyone knows exactly what this job entails. I couldn't find much info online but it sounds interesting. This is the job description.

"Overview

Fisher Investments is now seeking a Portfolio Evaluation Associate. In this role, you'll learn more about "real-world" finance in your first few months than any class ever taught you-- thanks in part to our unique mentor program. You'll be encouraged to ask questions, improve processes, and propose novel solutions to problems. If you hate the idea of corporate bureaucracy and politics, you'll love that we evaluate employee performance in a manner that is straightforward and metrics-based. Do your best, rise to the top of the ranks in your area, and you'll be on your way to earning more advanced opportunities.

The Day-to-Day:

As a Portfolio Evaluation Associate in our Portfolio Evaluation Group (PEG), you'll work closely with the Investment Policy Committee (IPC), PEG Analysts, members of the research staff, Investment Counselors and Regional Vice Presidents to provide the following deliverables to existing and prospective Fisher Investments private clients:
Asset Allocation Recommendations
Customized Portfolio Strategies
Projected Cash-Flow Analysis
Portfolio Analysis
Financial Planning
Associates who are able to excel at their core responsibilities will get an opportunity to work on Firm Projects or Initiatives. This helps you build your skills for your current and next role in the firm."

I know fisher investments is looked down upon but my ultimate goal is to work as a research associate or in investment research. I couldn't find many reviews and wanted to see if anyone ever worked here. Thanks!

I interviewed with them not to long ago for this role. They don't really give much detail in terms of what you are doing in the role in till the 2nd and third round. I think its a complete joke. Great job title but won't actually do the job. Its a standard 50 hour work week and all associates even for this role make 55k....in San Fran...cant even get a box with that. I have done some research and yet to see anyone on LinkedIn who worked there move onto a good firm. Everyone stays there and my guess is you don't gain the skills your title states and no one will hire you after a year or two doing nonsense. You won't get any licenses as well as an "associate". This is just my opinion formed from what I was told from the interview and my research.
