Do any bankers eat food? If so what food
I saw a post about whether or not bankers play video games, and wonder the same with food. If you do eat food, what is it? Chicken, steak, broccoli, etc?

That's a stupid question. Unlike Asset Management or Private Wealth Management, Investment Bankers share a trait with Traders (not sales traders) in that we do not need sustenance to survive. Similar to Edward from Twilight but if he had a slick back and a Valentine Couture suit. However if you are asking because you are torturing an Iranian investment banker for nuclear codes, the best way to go about it would be restricting him from alcohol as it is our lifeline, similar to how an Enzo Ferrari requires gasoline to function.
Hope this helped.
I typically photorespire, means I can work more instead of wasting time with earthly matters such as eating
I am a middle school freshman but as an aspiring MONKEY haha i only eat BANANAS (XD)
Most investment bankers eat a balanced diet
don't forget a rigorous exercise routine
Target or non-target?
Not unless I get a reservation at Dorsia
Food is for chumps. Real big ballers exclusively drink soylent and eat pussy!
Food for the Gods: cocaine and hookers
Depends - which tier of food provides the best exit ops?
Honestly I can't cook so a lot of times it's lean cuisine or one of these take & bake meals from the grocery. This and the late night dinner stipend from uber eats
I only eat 1st year analysts and drink Macallan15 (or Dalmore 50 year).
Essential Items - Food Edition (Originally Posted: 07/03/2013)
Happy 4th! Hope everyone got some cool things lined up. This post came from chatting with a few certified users recently. I think it's pretty imperative I share these items that I own that I believe were essential in helping me through my banking days.
Vitamix: I use this to make green smoothies. It's great. Helps you get the necessary vegetables in one cup of delicious smoothie. Don't go crazy though; I got crazy stomach ache from blending stuff with too much fiber the first couple days and it was not a good look. I got a reconditioned one for less than $400. Some other people prefer Blendtec but I picked Vitamix. The cheap ones can't blend vegetables as well
Slow-cooker: Every Sunday night I'd go and grab some chicken (or whatever type of meat. Tried pork shoulder as well) and dump in some vegetables and just let it rock for 4 hours. I get about 4 healthy and delicious meals out of it. Great lunch option.
Cast-Iron Skillet: Gotta grill those steaks. Alton Brown is awesome btw:
FAQ: Q: Is WCA getting paid for advertisement or referrals? A: No, silly, because I am alpha AF from using these things in life. And I'm not even linking to the product pages.
Q: How did you find time to use all of this A: It really is just an investment of time. It takes literally 5 minutes to make a smoothie and 10 minutes to throw everything into the slow cooker. Cast iron is more of a special occasion thing.
Q from the ladies: Are you single? A: Unfortunately because I use these things I am not.
Don't have a Vitamix but agree with all of these. A quality blender is a game changer. If you get a second meal allowance (who doesn't?) after midnight, grab a bunch of packaged sliced fruit from some place and throw it in your freezer when you get home. On the weekends, instead of waking up and grabbing that greasy breakfast sandwich and a donut, throw all the frozen fruit in the blender with some ice (maybe soy milk and protein powder if you just hit the gym [do you even lift, bro?]); delicious and healthy.
Crockpot is also key.
agree with the above and the above above the above, apart from soymilk.
berries are best fruit, frozens are best value.vitamix's make amazing margaritas.
Pressure cooker, it's a slow cooker on steroids. I make really good beef/lamb stews and pork bone soup. Too bad I don't have one with me. I've also heard great things about vitamix, but doesn't juicing remove some of the fibre?
too soon bro
What do you fellers eat at your desks in between meals? I'm trying to cut down on the junk food and chocolates, and I'm getting pretty tired of cereal, cereal bars and fruit.
water
I discovered that cooking in a wok is possibly the easiest and most amazing thing ever. All my food comes out perfectly done (I do dice up my meat before I put it in) and it is also great for stir-fry and similar foods obviously. The wok is king.
Magic Bullet and George Foreman Represent!
Get a container of nuts like peanuts or almonds. Definitely a good go to snack when you're trying to eat healthy.
Problem with that is that when I have a jar of peanuts or almonds in front of me, the jar disappears in the span of about a couple hours.
go easy on the nuts, they actually have a shit ton of calories due to the high amount of fat in them
Try the least offensive protein bars. And by least offensive, I mean not ones saying "BRUTEPOWERMAX GUARANTEED TO GET YOU RIPPED!!!" More like the health food style ones, I only say because I would take the piss out of you for having Brutepowermax even though I get (and do) the whole gym thing, it just looks lame.
you trying to wok block me?
Water, almonds, etc.
Ordering Food to Office (Originally Posted: 12/16/2013)
Just a point of confusion: when you order on Seamless do you generally have to go downstairs to pick it up or will it be brought up to your floor or even your desk?
are you serious?
In my experience they usually bring it to your desk. Could vary from bank to bank, but it alleviates a lot of the stress of having to stop in the middle of a task to walk downstairs and pick up the food.
you pick it up downstairs
This question is almost as dumb as anything that comes out of the above poster's mouth.
ask yourself this: what are the chances that investment banks distribute security passes to thousands of delivery boys across NYC?
to answer the question, you go downstairs and pick it up. you and the delivery guy will both play the timing game. he will call from a few blocks away saying he has arrived. you will say "ok thanks, i'm coming down" but then wait 2-5 minutes before leaving your desk. ideally you will arrive at the meeting point simultaneously. occasionally he will have already left and you will argue with the restaurant only to receive the same cold dinner an hour later when the guy returns.
Very accurate.
Nailed it.
pretty sure Black Jack was being sarcastic guys... of course they're not going to let the pizza boy breathe the same air as a prestigious banker.
knowyourrole
Thank you
Often there's an area where food is left by the delivery guys and you go through the fun process of inspecting every single bag from the restaurant you ordered from, checking for your name and your order. Tip - if you find the meal of anyone senior on your team, take theirs up as well.
Also, this is the stupidest and least important question I think I've seen for about 2 weeks.
Sometimes they feed me and wipe my bottom, too.
I feel stupider for having read this thread...
Depends on where you work actually. Last summer there was a messenger center that brought the food up to my floor. So not every place makes you go pick it up...
If you tip them well, often they will chew it and feed it to you.
Mine does it for free. Thought he hated me, but I now realize he did it so my stomach wouldn't have trouble digesting it and force me to stop in the middle of a task to walk down the hall to drop off the kids.
Do you think the tips we include on seamless actually go to those delivery guys?
No, I really doubt it.
And this topic is hilarious.
best type of food? (Originally Posted: 03/27/2007)
can you guys pls rank the best type of food and advice where I should eat tonight?
Sushi? Indian? Mexican? Steak? Should I make a reservation? Also best dishes and best waiters, if you know.
Thanks.
Jimbo
Bollo is good.
El Bulli is better but i've never been to either. pls rank them based on waitstaff, prestige, and bathroom quality.
Eat Mexican!!! Its the best especially those quesadillas
for the 3rd time, i am interested in your opinions on prestige. actual quality of food is not relevant. i want to be a player!
And what country/city you are talking about? In terms of prestige, it differs a lot geographically
London, New York and Hong Kong. thanks.
Lame attempt at a joke man, come up with something better next time
primate.
It depends which retirement home you want to get into in 60 yrs. If you want to go for the Big Boys (BBs)-think Goldman's Back, U-Pee-S, Serenity Now-then you need to make careful decisions about where you eat and who you associate with. Go to the Lebanese Vendor man on the corner of 42nd and 2nd and eat lots of Khaahl Khallesh (crab juice optional).
try subway, order the parmesan oregano with goatcheese in a buffalo chipotle dressing.
Snackwrap, bitch.
Redbull... can't go wrong.
and I also love the cuban food in Miami.
London is good only if you like Indian food (seems like there's one every corner, but not that great for many international cuisines)
NYC blows away any other city in the world.
I will clearly second you on Cuban food in Miami.
I went to a lebanese place in London which was unbelievable, but yes overall not too crazy about the food.
How are you going to eat dinner in all three cities simultaneously?
Seanc, i am working hard for you here. i think it is cleverly ironic actually. to each his own.
Mika, thanks for the great advice.
Definitely amusing :-)
Food in the office (Originally Posted: 12/11/2009)
Would like to know how much food is being fed to you and your colleagues (outside of dinner of course) by your bank. This past summer at my SA (not-bulge) we were getting free sodas, granola, cookies, pretzels but never anything catered and absolutely no lunch food .. pretty basic though I heard they used to do all that back in the good days.
my firm does the same as you listed above (non-BB) and the occassional catered lunch when there are meetings
Yes, that is pretty standard. Unlimited water, soda, juice, etc. Some places give unlimited snacks. My current PE shop has the secretary make trips to the grocery store, so I can essentially "order" whatever it is I want. I usually just get cold breakfast though.
Who cares. You're lucky you have a job. Stop comparing who is getting free fucking pretzels. Let's all get back to work and crank it out. Come on guys, is this a serious board or what?
This is going to totally reveal me to everyone at my bank as I am notorious for this but I eat Chik fil A at least three times a week. People have told me I have a problem but I'm not changing.
Chinese food, this is what you can get at 3am
2014 called and wants its thread back.
