Does CFA help for doing CPA?

Hi everyone, just a quick question.

I'm interested in a fund management career. I have passed level 2 of the CFA exam, and I am considering studying for the CPA too (since a large part of analysis is analyzing accounts).

For people that have studied for both qualifications, does the accounting element of the CFA studies help in studying the CPA?

In terms of accounting, I also have some experience through securities analysis over a period of a few years, and additionally studied a little bit of accounting at University as part of my degree.

Also, is there a new accounting qualification that has come into existence recently?

Thank you!

There is overlap with the FAR section of the CPA exam and some random material on BEC. The most useful thing is learning how to study and prepare for 3 plus hour exams. There is always a new accounting/finance certification coming out, the most recent one which i think you are reffering to is the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant). You can buy yourself some letters to put behind your name if you are already a CPA and meet the experience requirements. Personally i think its worthless and misleading but if your horny for certifications, why not?
