Ex-Lehman
Just a generic post really but did anyone in here work for Lehman before it shut?
Can you talk about some of your experiences, do you miss it, where are your coworkers now, etc?
I was still young when it occurred but it would be interesting to hear.
This post is also applicable to those that worked at other financial institutions that ceased operations during the same period.
Lol Lehman went under in 2008, so anyone who worked there would be at least ~35 years old today. It would definitely be interesting to have a Q&A from a former Lehman employee, but unfortunately, there are maybe 5 active users on WSO who are older than 30
Lol true
My senior year Econ teacher in high school was a trader at Lehman. Quit in ‘07 and became an Econ teacher.
Best bet is to reach out to some senior bankers at Barclays...likely not gonna be on here
My boss is a former Lehman and Bear Stearns alumni.
double homicide
Haha to follow up on my boss that’s a good way to put it. I have no idea how hes manage to stay in banking for so long especially after being at notoriously brutal and sharp-elbowed firms.

I worked there. Read some of my posts before including the one in my signature.
Thanks Dick. What are you up to these days? You thought about joining Steve at BX or like running for nyc mayor? Not sure what you want to do but think you could be helpful to the industry and/or the city if you want
Hello Dick, I'm Cock.
My former bosses worked at Lehman. They all talk fondly about it.
Know someone who worked there (not in a FO finance role but a tech role). Help support the S&T desks specifically ABS I believe. Got laid off and ended up joining colleagues at a few MM/BB firms that had a large amount of ex-Lehman employees at the time.
Left finance as their kids started to get older. Works for their family business where they likely make 2x+ (probably 3-5x tbh) than they used to (never asked what they were making at these banks but it was somewhere between 120-200K+, unpredictable hours though since it was a global BB).
Know a former MD on their derivatives desk. Dudes an animal. Adjunct Professor now that trades/looks for different real estate investment opportunities
