Feel awful for foreigners.

Occasionally, when I scroll through LinkedIn, I’ll find one of the BBs commenting on some Indian guy’s post. The post is usually some foreigner complaining or mentioning how they haven’t heard anything back from the recruiting team in months. Then the Bank goes ahead and gives them a super generic answer. Feels so awful seeing them in such situation.

Funniest thing about you is you don’t even work in IB. ive seen you post on these forums and you need to chill. You work in corporate banking aka a total pigeon job, get a life you grocery stick

This happens constantly in the US, even after a superday when you have literally flown there to meet them you will get completely ghosted if not hired.

I've seen a ton of the Indian guys commenting on big banks' random quarterly update posts or tag them in their own posts trying to get jobs so I think they just use social media/LI differently than the US

I feel the same way. I know a lot of overseas students get taken advantage of at Colleges and are lead down a road of even less opportunities than you or I in the job market. Must be very stressful for them with their families back home expecting results etc. I feel for them.

As an immigrant myself, I can empathize with their struggle. Based on the screenshot and the comments following it, there are 2 possibilities:

  1. He’s an Indian (or some other National) applying in his own country. Going by his English and the position title he applied for, this doesn’t look like it’s from the US. I’m sure whichever country he is from, it’s a common practice there and we shouldn’t be judgmental of it without stepping into his shoes. How would you feel if the rest of the world started recording your audios from networking events and started circulating it around saying - “Oh look, this is how Americans suck up for a job by asking every Tom, Dick or Harry - ‘sO wHaT dOeS yoUR dAy lOoK LikE?’”
  1. He’s a foreign National applying for a role in a foreign country (maybe US for him). You all were probably lucky that you could go to a top university in a developed country. For a lot of people, including myself, it is/was just a distant dream. It might take ages to save up for tuition fee if you’re from a country with a weaker currency (India, for example). And when you’re an immigrant, you’re on a clock. So, yes, the struggle is real. And if you’ve shelled out $$$$, you’re gonna get desperate and leave no stone unturned, just to get at least a minimum pay job that will cover your expenses until you find another way to pay off your debt and build some savings.

The hate for India, China, Pakistan etc is unreal on this forum. Even in 2022. I guess it’s a good thing your identity isn’t public on this forum, or some people here would have been fired for racial misconduct, and then complained about being replaced by an Indian/Chinese/Paki etc.

They are threatened, because they did not have to struggle like we did. I have nothing but respect for my bros grinding all the way from India and China, let alone Pakistan. If you can make it on Wall Street from Pakistan, God willing, you are more deserving than every old money, prep school, good ol boy on the street. You might as well be a force of nature, this is meaning of the American dream.

You think these trust fund WASPs had to struggle like we did? You think this is a game? This is real life, I've got mouths to feed. I've got blocks to feed, people to raise from the very bottom. If they can't understand this then fuckem, we will take over. It's survival of the fittest out here, this is America. This land is your land, this land is my land. If these old money boys aren't smart enough, hard enough, driven enough, to compete in the free market, then they will lose.

I have nothing but respect for these Indian guys making real fucking moves on the street. This is the new America, if you can't play with the big boys, you are going to get left behind. If you can't code for shit, we will automate your spreadsheets. We will take your job while you play golf and sip mohitos at your country club. This new generation is so soft, they are going to learn fast. If they don't, they can sit down and fill out some spreadsheets until a robot takes their job. This is America.

You don't even need to hate them back, just keep grinding. Forgive them, they have no clue what's taking place right now on the street. If they do understand, and it frightens them, then they are not prepared mentally or psychologically to adapt. I for one am excited to kick some ass, and I would rather give a job to an intelligent, hardworking immigrant than some rich kid to fill out spreadsheets and make frat jokes while working 2 hours and bullshitting for 6.

If some rich kid can put numbers on the board and make it fucking rain, props to him.

That's all that matters on the street, numbers on the fucking board.

Simple mathematics.

"They are threatened"... HAHAHAHA oh yes, Americans (I'm not American) feel so threatened about you... you just have to see how they are treated here in SF where I live...

Why don't you take all that hard working attitude you arer flaunting in your comment and put it to good use in your own country ir order to make it a better place? Doesn't sound very appealing to leave the good live Americans provide you, right? You would have to go back to cows in main street and girls that smell like curry.

If you don't like how the country treats you, go back to your country and see if they treat you better. In the mean time, suck it up.

I will continue to laugh my ass from all those cringe guys form India and similar.

You talk about how this is "everybody's America." and then proceed to blatantly put forth how you would discriminate against white people. Attempting to insinuate that all white people are stupid, lazy, and spoiled is ludicrous and shows the bubble you've lived in.

This is totally inaccurate. Finance isn't "simple mathematics" and "just numbers". It is a relationship driven business and soft skills such as being able to communicate, and participate at socials are extremely important. These matter just as much if not more than  knowing the numbers  the higher up you go. That frat dude who you think is wasting time with his bros is actually developing connections that will turn into business relationships down the line. This is why you see a huge number of asians in purely technical/mathematical roles like quant/data science/swe but less at the management level role. Those that are there though agree with what I am saying.

Anyone with a minimum of common sense knows that responding "Interested, please check my profile sir" to a Goldman Sachs Linkedin post is just wasting your time. Do you really think GS (or any company) is going to check your profile and contact you for a position? LOL

I see this thousands of times and it's always people from India. Its not being racist, it's just facts.

My BB presentation team in India is in dire need of employees, pls go there so I can stop recreating screenshots at 1 am.
