First Round Phone interview hear back?

So I've had a few first round interviews so far (a few last week, and one the week prior). All my interviews were conducted with people working in the division I was interviewing with, not HR. Most seemed unaware of the timeline regarding hearing back and responded by saying it was early in the process and such.

I'd also like to note that though these firms recruit on my campus using OCR, they reached out to me before OCR deadlines (and interviewed me for positions/locations not specifically posted on OCR either) hence why I'm posting this:

has anyone experienced this before, and if so what's the typical timeline to hear back about getting a second round?

Squak is right. However, I will add that make sure you stay in touch. Send emails thanking them for their time, etc.

If this is a regional office or boutique (or both), then the process is usually more decentralized. They have their core of "targets" and have standardized timelines. Its a huge cost for them to bring out applicants and they only want to bring out the best (best "fit" usually).

If this is a BB NYC office then I have no clue bro. Usually the process for BB in NYC is very standard and done through OCR. Would be shocked if this was the case. In any case though, stay in touch and don't be afraid to ask questions re: timeline. If you are a qualified, well fitting candidate, firms are usually accommodating.

To each his own. I auto-ding anyone that doesn't send thank you emails. Am I concerned that I could miss out on a stellar candidate that prepared for months and years but just didn't have time to send a thank you note? No, bc all stellar candidates send notes.

Also, then are they going to forget to bring the wine or books to a client meeting? I'll leave that to you...but no one I've hired has ever forgot.

PS: Why are you handed a business card at every interview? It's not to stare at and dream that in just over a year it'll have your name on it.

Yeah, a week later is a little hazy. Whenever there is ambiguity - I'd say err on the side of more clarity. So in your thank you email. Say the standard thank you but feel free to add something like "if you get any more clarity on the timeline of the recruiting process, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know." Pretty simple and I don't see a downside. Maybe it'll cross their mind once the do find out more.

Thanks for your input guys.

I sent thank you emails immediately afterwords (I've been told by numerous insiders and a family member, who is also an insider, this is a must).

The firms I I'm referring to above are BB's and the offices I've had first rounds with are in NYC. What's weird though is I also have first rounds with the same firm in different locations this week (same division in one instance, simply different locations as well).

What's even weirder though is nothing has been through OCR, and actually I've been rejected on OCR for a first round interview that's schedule for this week, as well as interviewed with a group/division that isn't even on OCR (FO).

I'm not sure what's up but I'm going to stay consistent and keep reaching out every week or so from here out. I was told when interviewing that it's early in the process (which is true if their relating my interview date to our OCR scheduled fist rounds, which begin tomorrow actually and end with BB'S/boutiques up until the end of next week), I'm just sort of caught off guard and want some clarification/have recognized how random finance first round interview selections are and am just thankful for getting something.
