Fixed Income Resources
I was hoping you smart folks could recommend me some solid fixed-income resources. Basically, I know very little about fixed income valuation/analysis, but I'd like to change that. By resources, I mainly mean books (textbooks or otherwise), but I'm also interested in any websites, articles, tutorials, videos, and anything else that's out there. Thanks in advance.
Fibozzi--Handbook of Fixed Income Securities. It's the fixed income bible.
Hull--Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives. It's okay whilst you still have your training wheels on.
www.fxstreet.com www.marctomarket.com www.bloomberg.com www.thestreet.com www.ft.com/alphaville
The Bloomberg training videos on their website aren't too bad for newbies.
study fibonacci analysis and maybe catalan numbers.
...i would just get the cfa prep books and ignore the ethics stuff (kinda like the CDO funds at bear and goldman)
the fabozzi book is good, just very long. for ur purposes a corporate finance textbook from wiley finance (brealy meyers) and the cfa books plus whatever u find online would be more than enough.

I'm starting my first job out of college in Fixed Income...While there is an initial training program, what are some good books on the fixed income space to get my feet wet and get a head start? I have very limited knowledge of bonds and the fixed income space but want to get a more basic understanding as well as more indepth info on FI portfolio mgmt
Fixed Income Securities by Tuckman
Had it for my FI class in fin undergrad and don't plan on ever selling it (unlike my other texts).
^ is right. Fabozzi is king. I'd also suggest Inside the Yield Book. It's a classic.
Agree with Fabozzi and Inside the Yield Book, I also like Distressed Debt Investing (Which is recommended on here all the time but still) if you'll have any exposure to distressed.

thanks a lot guys...really appreciate it
so as i understand, here are the best 5 books for learning about FI. thoughts/suggestions?
Fixed Income Securities by Tuckman The Handbook of Fixed Income Securities by Fabozzi Inside the Yield Book by Homer/Liebowitz Distressed Debt Analysis by Moyer The Handbook of Municipal Bonds by Fabozzi
Yes, considering the material is not exactly beginners, that should be quite enough to keep you going for the next months..
What in FI will you be doing?
I would take Fabozzis Handbook and just focus on that. No sense in reading 6 books that dense. You'll get much better value by really focusing on one, building excel models with the stuff you learn etc.
If you know your desk then you can also go for a more specific book on that product.
Second just getting Fabozzi's Handbook. I added those others just in case someone was specializing in a particular debt product.

Hi, I have a decent background in equities but can anyone suggest some material to get up to date on the high-yield and investment grade credit spaces? Blogs, articles, background reading?? Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Faboozi: The Handbook of Fixed Income Securities is pretty good, for fixed income knowledge.
