fundraising in a new town

I'm helping a buddy out now for his PE fund capital raising, and he's asked for help for a London roadshow. I'm in Asia and have nearly no London connections. It's pushed me to start looking at Linkedin Sales Navigator and Hubspot to source leads and then track the process, respectively. Keen to hear your guys thoughts.

It's of course easier to set up a roadshow in a city where you have a network. A few well-placed emails, and you're good to go.

But how do you guys go about sourcing leads in a new city where you have no contacts? I was thinking of hiring a virtual assistant to help me on Linkedin, just find new suitable LPs and try to strike up a relationship, with the idea of getting the next roadshow there right. All advice welcome. I'm being open, and showcasing my ignorance/weakness here with you lot.

Local conferences? I've found the best connections through conferences. Not sure what would be worth attending in Europe as I only have experience in the US.

The other thing that's worked and you alluded to is having someone overseas scrape data online, throw it into a CRM, and then blast out cold intro emails via reply.io -> push to a call and speak with potential targets?

If it was that easy to source connections in a city you did not live in and had no prior connections, then the entire concept of relationships would be moot. There is no substitute to real relationships and connections built over time. My suggestion is to leverage someone on the ground who has those.
