Goldman Sachs Virtual Insight Series

Being that I was ineligible for all diversity events, I registered for the Goldman Sachs Virtual Insight Series, which seems to be a virtual networking event. I just received the e-mail for the HireVue, with one question in a separate e-mail.

The main e-mail says the interview length is around 10 minutes, while the other e-mail says the question is 2 minutes. Will there be other questions on top of the one in the e-mail?

Has anyone been in this program before? Is it even slightly useful? If they do select me for this virtual tour, is that the kind of thing I should put on my resume when looking for an actual internship.

I am a sophomore at a Canadian semi-target.

GS Virtual Insight Series: Goldman Sachs Exploratory Program

The Goldman Sachs Virtual Insight Series is a popular student program designed to help prospective GS employees learn more about the firm and interview process. Per GS, you will be able to “experience the learning and networking opportunities of our in-person camps from your own mobile device through this multi-day, flexible hour live learning series.” You can gain exposure to multiple career paths and build the skills you need to successfully interview for the prestigious bank.

One WSO community member @777new" , who went through the program explains:

The program is very helpful. It lets you know how you need to prepare for interviews for internships etc. It also tries to develop your "relationship" building skills over networking. Lots of professional skill building and stuff like that. Quite general. Probably helped in demonstrating interest and good to pop into your "why GS" answers, but you could find all the info they give you on their website or WSO.

Event has (there was more, here are a few things that I remember)

  • practice hirevue
  • kick off calls/recruiting webinars with HR
  • informational calls with analysts/associates/VPs in several different divisions (not one on on, more of a conference format with Q&A)
  • resume and interview office hours
  • Most of the events last year were either after hours or do on your own time, and everything was optional
  • There were also like 5-6 options to attend each event

Also wondering the same thing. What is the interview question and what exactly does this insight series provide?

bump

Don´t say this in a banking interview: Which superhero would you be and why? I want to be like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor - me.

I got this as well but I never applied to it... it seems to be a multi-event/webcast type of program for a couple of weeks.

Is this program selective-- I got invited, but I didn't apply? Also, can anyone tell me more about it. From what fellow monkeys are saying its like a network builder/ learn about the firm type thing?

^ likewise. Did you participate in one of the diversity programs they had this spring?

I also think this insight series is different from the one you can apply to (along with undergrad camp, etc.) which seems to be a one day virtual event.

I got an invitation for it two weeks ago and my registration deadline was 5/14 or something around there. Seems like they sent out a second wave of registrations for students who did Undergraduate Camp? I think everyone who attended some sort of diversity programming this semester (the women's event, the LGBT event, or Undergraduate Camp) got an invite.

Did anyone get in without having registered for a diversity event? I was actually rejected from this. I might be the only one who didn't get in.

lol same! i think they just put all the rejects of the in-person programs into the virtual series.. not sure what an 'extraordinarily accomplished and academically talented group of applicants' we actually are lol. and curious if it will help us in any ways in the upcoming gs recruiting cycle

I did it last year. Got a GS offer this year in the early period but did not take it.

Event starts June 4th Monday at 9AM. What happens if most of us have internships from Mon-Fri working the 9-5pm? Is this something worth getting out of work for?

Most of the events last year were either after hours or do on your own time, and everything was optional (there were probably 30 events all in) so don't feel bad if one doesn't work for your schedule.

There were also like 5-6 options to attend each event - so the 9am might be a kickoff call, but they'll have a bunch of kickoff calls at different times throughout the week. Don't ditch work for it.

Most Helpful

A bunch, maybe majority, were 6/7/8 pm. I just went through my emails and I went to a good number of events at 7-8 EST, including a 7pm kickoff call. I don't think anything will ever be 9-5 only with no after-hours options, they stress flexibility with this program.

Also some events including the kickoff call are video (video ones were indicated by use of the BlueJeans platform last year) so either turn off your video or make sure you're not wearing pajamas lol

Good luck, have fun with it!

same here. I probably got rejected... :-( not sure why, though. My friends all got in and I have better GPA with roughly the same ECs....

Does anyone know a phone number or email address that we can send and enquiry to? I also didn’t get the link and there seems to be no clear way to communicate with the organizer.

Yeah I understand what you are saying. I have a feeling that they may just be behind or something. Im going to spend more time today looking for someone to email

Could someone on the 8pm session PM me the link to the webinar? I register for the event but never received the login info

Hey, this same thing happened to me! I signed up for the 8 pm and never got the email. I reached out to Goldman this morning to try to figure out why I did not get an email.
