Got contacted by a recruiter from Goldman Sachs regarding a few open positions, how do I not screw this up?
Hello,
I am a first year full time professional working in public accounting. I currently work in audit, and the other day, I was contacted on LinkedIn from a recruiter at Goldman Sachs. Since I work in accounting, I was offered several accounting related positions, but the one that really stood out to me was a Financial Controllers analyst role. This would be a tremendous boost to me careerwise, I cannot think of a better position for me at this point in my career outside of IB, I would absolutely kill to have this job.
I replied as soon as I could when I got off from work, but this was now exactly a week ago. I replied to his "InMail" on LinkedIn, and I sent him an email to his @gs email as he requested in the LinkedIn message, with my resume attached. Is there anything else I can do to follow up with this guy? Should I start applying to some of the open positions, or should I wait for a response? His words were:
"Hi Fr0nt0ffice, I just wanted to reach out a briefly introduce myself. I work as a Recruiter at Goldman Sachs on the Internal Audit, Financial Controllers, Compliance, and Regulatory Reporting teams. I reviewed your profile and think that you could be a great potential fit for opportunities that we have here internally. If you would be interested interested in talking more about open positions or careers at Goldman Sachs in general, please send me your resume via email to [email protected] .
Thanks!

I sent him a connection request today, because I feel like I need to make some kind of action to stand out if he is unsure. I'm not sure what to do next, but I have never received an recruiter message on LinkedIn who messaged me, who I responded to, who didn't respond back. But then again, I've never been recruited by such a high profile company like Goldman Sachs.
Please give me any advice as to how I should go about this. Like I said, I would do anything to land this job, but I'm worried how much pushing and enthusiasm will be too much.
Hi Fr0nt0ffice, hope I can help. Do any of these links cover what you're looking for:
You're welcome.
You really do not. If they want to out you forward they will. Dont over think this.
Dont do anything more that what is directed of you by the recruiter at this point. Desparation plays are for getting noticed in the first place.
Don't overthink this. I don't want to dissuade you but controllers roles just aren't that competitive, even at Goldman. If you're at big 4, you should have plenty of opportunities to move into controllers at a bank if that's what you're interested in. If for whatever reason Goldman doesn't work out, I'm sure another bank will. The role will be identical across banks.
