I could be wrong, but I thought it has to be like 3.7 (or higher).
3.5-3.7
Everyone we used to interview typically had 3.7-4.0. I can't remember anyone under a 3.5.
I work at one of the firms mentioned above, and this is true in my experience.
ahh, i guess 3.67 would be a border line case then?
3.3-3.5+ depending on experience. It's much easier to get economic consulting interviews than management consulting ones, and they value your internships/schoolwork much more than the latter.
Good luck getting an internship at any reputable econ consulting firm with a GPA of less than 3.5. I used to work at Cornerstone/NERA/AG/CRA and we'd throw out most resumes with GPA less than 3.8. Only when we were in need would we look at individuals with GPAs 3.5-3.8.
I work at one of the firms you mentioned in your post. We don't have an official minimum, but for full-time recruiting this season I've never seen a candidate with less than a 3.5 get an interview and all of the ones who got offers had 3.7+. Internships are more competitive than full-time because we hire fewer interns, but the GPA cut-off is probably around the same. tl;dr 3.5 is around the minimum for an interview, but I've never seen someone get an offer with less than a 3.7
but if I do get a first-round interview, what will be the most important deciding factor?
if i do well in the interviews, will the company look at my grades in the last round, and then decide "meh, don't want her, she only has a 3.67"?
No. You'll be fine. If you've already made the first round the GPA becomes basically irrelevant and it comes down to how well you interview. A 3.67 should be a 3.7 on your resume by the way. That's exactly what I had!
Good luck with your interviews. Any idea which group you're interviewing with?
i had a 3.5 to 3.6 while interviewing with one of the firms you mentioned, and got a FT offer.
Mind sharing more on your background/ experience and how you made the sell?
I don't know if Im getting an interview yet haha! my application is due Jan 17 and I'm having my fingers crossed that I can get an interview!! thanks for the luck jankynoname!
I agree with jankynoname. You can call your 3.67 a 3.7 on your resume for sure. If you do well in the interviews they won't ding you for your grades.
