GS M&A Group, Financial Sponsors Execution?

Hi all,

I found this Associate job posting online for GS IBD Classic, M&A Group, Financial Sponsors Execution: http://www.goldmansachs.com/a/data/jobs/37276.html

Does anyone have first- or second-hand knowledge of whether it's a good group and role in which to work in terms of culture, deal flow, and type of work?

I definitely searched for past posts on this group and role. Those posts were not entirely helpful given that this role is focused on execution and the major complaint I saw on past WSO posts was that FSG was an origination and internal information group more so than execution and client service at the junior ranks. This role sounds new.

From the convos I've had w/ people in here, this group strictly runs the Sellside M&A process for PE portfolio companies. From the start to finish.

They barely do, if any, client work. They can sometimes do Buyside M&A for the PE companies, but not too much. They get pretty good deal flow bc of GS's repuation and relationship with a lot of the PE funds.
