GS Video Interview?
Two of my friends have received video conference interview from GS AFTER the phone screen interview.
I thought GS only used to do phone screen and then on site? How common is the video interview (not just for IBD but for different divisions as well) ? What should be expected from the video interviews?
Interested as well
Video interviews at GS are common. Typically if you're coming out of state, GS will conduct 3 interviews (either phone or video) before bringing you on-site. Just because they chose to conduct a video interview rather than a phone screen doesn't mean that they are much more interested in the candidate.
There's nothing out of the ordinary to expect. Video interviews are conducted just like every other normal interviews. I typically don't like them, because the interviewers sometimes get distracted with emails popping up on the lower right hand corner.
So this isn't a video interview per se but a recorded video you send in. I think it's like 3-4 automated questions that you answer
I'm confused about what you're asking. Video interviews at GS are LIVE interviews, as in they're video conferences. I've never heard of GS asking candidates to send pre-recorded clips of themselves.
No this is a LIVE video interview.
They are doing the video interview AFTER the phone interview.
Are you aware of what type of questions are asked in video interview? Are they behavioral again?
Expect the same questions they asked on the phone interviews. Majority of the questions are going to be behavioral, but make sure you're comfortable answering technicals. Also, word of advice, the culture at GS cherishes ones ability to understand concepts and not memorize them. Don't be that kid that memorizes all the vault guide technical answers and reciprocate them in interviews.
It's the first year they are doing it and it's just for IBD. I thought it was weird too.
Just btw they are doing it for S&T as well. People in my school took the interview and got superday straight after.
How was the interview like? what kind of aquestions can they ask in such a short amount of time?

As your friends have taken it can you share what was the video interview experience like?
Had a video interview for S&T Summer Analyst. Didn't like the experience - one of the interviewers didn't even look at me throughout our conversation. There were behavioral questions, market questions and also couple statistical brainteasers.
I wish I had an interview in-person.
edited.
Just got the email for the pre recorded digital interview as well. I'm coming from a non target (large state school). Has anyone else done an actual one way pre recorded interview with GS yet?
Any information on what types of questions the automated/prerecorded digital interviews consist of would be greatly appreciated! Also, for people from non-target schools, what was the process like after the prerecorded interview?
Bump. SB for any info on how the pre-recorded interview went
I finished mine today. Very standard "tell me about yourself", "why banking", "why Goldman", "give me a time when..."
No technical or tough behavioral. Still very awkward though
I had mine yesterday. Mostly behavioral questions and fit (Why finance?). Expected much more technical questions and I'm a bit confused as to how they will choose who passes on to the next round with so few questions. Anyone know when we should hear back if we go to super day?
