I have an upcoming interview with Houlihan Lokey's consumer group (consumer, food, retail, etc.). I'm trying to understand how the industry groups coordinate with the M&A team, since it looks like most of their deals are M&A anyway. Can anybody shed light?

Industry groups are industry specific and work on all types of engagements including M&A, financing, fairness opinions and restructurings. They are predominantly M&A focused though.

Any ideas/opinions on HL Consumer group (consumer, food, and retail)? Just general comments on culture/structure of the firm and how they coordinate with other products teams (Such as M&A team or Restructuring team) -- Seems like most of their transactions are M&A/Restructuring focused.
According to some people, Industry (Coverage) groups are industry specific and work on all types of engagements including M&A, financing, fairness opinions and restructurings. And they heavily focus on M&A/Restructuring. Then, you get exposed to M&A/Restructuring frequently even though you are placed in industry group?
