How are US MBAs viewed in Europe?

I'm looking to apply for MBAs in the US where I currently live, but at some point down the line I'm considering moving to Europe for a few years. Generally speaking, I know that M7 is globally regarded as the best, but how are programs ranked 10-20 generally viewed in western EU markets (London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc.)?

It's very solid. Some local markets love their business schools (Paris - HEC, Milan - Bocconi and London - LBS) but it's fair to say that the top schools in the US are known globally and will be well regarded in Europe. Now, if you take a school that is a regional powerhouse in the US (e.g. McCombs for Texas), most of the big cities such as London, Milan or Paris may still prefer their Bocconi, LBS and HEC MBA graduates. How this applies to some smaller EU markets is beyond my knowledge. If you wanted to go to Amsterdam, an HBS MBA would be seen better than one from RSM but RSM vs McComs...not sure. Worth doing a Linkedin check

Makes sense, that's sort of what I was thinking. Seems like a top 15 still has fairly good global recognition, but those programs in the US are in more regional markets like you mentioned (west coast for UCLA, the general south for UNC, etc.), so a search in EU markets would make sense.

@The_Pharma_Guy on the flip side, how well do you think European MBA programs place in the US? I'm thinking of places like LBS, Insead, HEC, IESE, Oxford Said, places like that.

I personally think that places like LBS and INSEAD won't have issues placing in BBs in the US. They're pretty international names and most people in the industry will know them. Places like HEC and IESE will be highly dependent on who is screening the CVs as they may be a European MD (or have worked in Europe) and know the schools. Otherwise I think the average person who hasn't heard of them would see them as good mid-level schools. They have more European pull than US pull. Schools like Oxford or Cambridge are interesting...the name will be known for sure but I don't think many people in the US will attribute them to having a solid MBA course. To be fair, they are still cementing themselves in Europe too; Cambridge's Judge Business School is seen as better than Said for MBAs in Europe so I assume in the US the perception will be slightly lower. They need to build a bit more credibility over there to be known as good MBA schools too
