Feel bad for the kid at the end, obviously just doesn't get/hasn't researched the BS that is behavioral interviews (plus might be a bit aspy).
The other kid though, literally might be a robot. Get one of those AI twitterbots and give it access to WSO and it would produce that kind of interview. My fav was ~"my technical skills are unparalled...I did WallStreetPrep"
Really? My personal favorite was him wanting to rise to the MD level and easily making a 7 figure salary, and maybe a 7-8 figure bonus if he closes a lot of deals.
This is even funnier because that kid probably reads this website. Also, other than they why banking, they don't ask questions like the ones he was answering.
After some googling I found this guy's linkedin but I'm not going to share it here since I think he is getting enough crap on him at this thread already...
To be fair, some parts of his interview are quite good and he seems like a well informed candidate. It's just the genericness that makes everything sound so pre-rehearsed and impersonal. I reckon he didn't make it past that round...
EDIT: Also he's following Apollo, TPG and Berkshire on linkedin. He's gonna use Goldman for getting to the buy-side. Gonna use some exit opzzz. What a badass!!!
Well the guy said his actual name on youtube, which is viewed by billions of viewers per week. Who the hell says they want 8 figure paydays during an interview?
This reminded me of a story a BB MD told me about recruiting. He does both recruiting for a couple of target undergraduate schools as well as MBA programs. While talking about recruiting he said, "You know, recruiting undergraduates is way better. The MBA applicants are pretty polished and generally have acceptable answers to most questions. The undergraduates, you never know what the fuck is going to come out of their mouth, it makes it way more entertaining. I asked a kid at [mid tier Ivy League School] what amortization was and he tried to explain it using the deteriorating mental health of his grand father with alzheimers and how much his leadership would be worth while leading a company."
I really really really REALLY fuckin hate this new trend of video interviews. 90% of the time I interview it becomes very conversational, I am generally an articulate and likable guy and it comes off when I speak with people. This video interview shit, however, removes that entire dynamic from the equation. I. HATE. IT.
Shit like hirevue is what makes me not fully trust HR people at banks... and the fact that GS calls it "Human Capital Management" definitely doesn't help
"I will succeed until the point where I am a managing director, and I am making 7 figures as a base salary, and then possibly 7-8 figures in bonus, depending on how many deals I am able to close"
GoldenCinderblock: "I keep spending all my money on exotic fish so my armor sucks. Is it possible to romance multiple females? I got with the blue chick so far but I am also interested in the electronic chick and the face mask chick."

Omg what a robot...
I know. Given his answers I don't think he even got an interview there.
Yeah. I personally would never want to work at a firm that hires people like him. He reminds me a bit of Patrik Bateman...
This is awful. Take a look at an interview from someone who's genuine and not just spouting out BS like this guy. [redacted by mod]
is this for real????
Nah that video is old. Was posted on this site a while back. The GS interview I posted is from this year if I'm not mistaken.
I seem to remember this vid circling around, and this kid had aspergers or something. take it easy kiddies
The Goldman guy doesn't but could definitely be a psychopath.

this is gold
I kinda feel bad for this guy
Why do people feel bad? This video was posted almost 5 years ago which means he's the CEO now.
Haha, I mean is this even a real one? Not some prank?
I mean, poor kid!
Why on earth would you post this on Youtube
I can get why he would do it as practice but to not make the video private was idiotic to say the least.
This is even funnier because that kid probably reads this website. Also, other than they why banking, they don't ask questions like the ones he was answering.
lol
I have never felt a stronger cringe. I hope that I'll never have to interview kids
Read the comments and the like/dislike bar
Is the first interview actually a real good example posted by GS or what? Or supposed to just for laugh? I am actually confused.
Would you go into a M&A client pitch and lead with the message "I want to advise you on this deal because I can make a lot of fees out of you?"
Probably not, although that's undoubtedly a big motivation.
So why would you tell GS that you want to work for them so you can make a load of money?
The kid's lack of empathy/ability to understand demonstrated in this video is why you would not want to put him in front of a client.
Him putting this video on youtube - that takes it to another level.
The art of BS'ing is major skill in the IB world. I think this guy in the video should try being in the NFL since he wants 8 figure bonuses.

Couldn't agree more.
To be fair, he is clearly a poorly-informed candidate based on this interview.

Well at least many people in his target industry are viewing his profile right now... He must be getting a substantial uptick in views...
For all of the wrong reasons

Haha maybe KREBSCYCLEOMG can chime in from his OCR thread.
this has to be a joke
He said KKR or bust
Hundreds of thousands of employees... its around 30k-40k. Also MD/Partners don't make 7 figures base.
When you're a rainmaker like that kid you get what you want. I chuckled at the MD in 10 years part he said. As if it was that easy.

What a BSD, give this man a job
He's the next @Frank Quattrone" or DickFuld
Pfft.....at my prime, I made 9 figure bonuses.
Damn, off to the BO for this kid. But, it'll save his life because he needs a reality check.
I wouldn't touch that kid with a 10 foot pole. He'd be a good fit at Jefferies Ops.
you guys are just being mean. Video interviews are always awkward and this is how most of you probably look
Sure there's awkward and then there's out of touch. Awkward is phrasing your story weirdly not talking like that.
it sort of looks like he wrote his answers on a word doc and then just read them aloud.
Doubt it. His skills are unmatched he says.
Yoda
Here's a compiled list of the comments on youtube. The video has 14 likes and 21 dislikes haha.
"what a loser"
"lol"
"lol, why on earth did you post this on youtube?"
"You sound like a robot... interviewers appreciate some personality in their candidates."
"You like the idea, but have you ever made a deal before this video?"
"horrible interview, no way you got it"
"Goldman is a thief, what a corrupted fool..."
"it is helpful. Can you tell more about the real interview questions you got."
"goldman doesnt promote quickly & networking opportunities are few to none"
"I own Goldman Sachs since I am God"
No match for his skills and no tinder matches
What's up with the "like" and "so" salads these days?
His tie knot offends me.
This.
All I heard was "I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st Street, my name is Patrick Bateman, and I'm 27 years old."
The views went from 6k to 11k since I posted the video. The WSO effect lol.
You'll all be sorry when he becomes CEO of the Goldman Sachs
What if I told you guys I know this individual in real life and just fucking sprayed water out of my mouth LOOL
Prove it lmao
