HS Senior seeking some advice

i was on here over a year ago with similar concerns but i just wanted to see if i could get some fresh insight. I only applied to Indiana University and Purdue University because both schools are in state and i see them as solid schools. I have been accepted into both. I am interested in studying either Accounting or Finance. I have read a lot about IBanking and think that it is what I would like to pursue. I'm also taking an accounting class right now at a small private school nearby and I enjoy that.

Anyways I have always wanted to go to Purdue and that is really where I can really see myself next year. Even though Krannert is not ranked at highly as Kelley, are rankings really important enough for me to attend one over another? My mentor in a high school program I'm apart of works are E&Y and told me that as long as I get good grades it does not matter which school I attend since both are good schools. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also Purdue offers majors in Accounting, Econ, Management and a few others but not finance because within management they have "focuses" which can be finance or marketing or several other. Would a major in management be looked down upon? Does an econ degree go just as far as a finance degree if trying to break into IBanking? I've been told that at Purdue it is easy to pick up 2 majors within the business school so I would probably end up doing that.

Any insight would be very appreciated.

 

Major isn't a major factor, but your GPA IS. Trying to stay above 3.8 while getting some fancy title ECs. From alumni and networking stand point, I would say Kelly trumps Purdue as K started way earlier on building a root on the street. I would also recommend a transfer to Target (i.e Ivy) if not, Michigan is also solid choice

 

The only thing I can say is that IU generally has a better rep than Purdue, and I've definitely met more kids from there during recruiting.
