Indochino suits?
In the need of a few more suits ... have seen a lot of hype about Indochino.
1. How do these suits compare to ... brooksbrothers or Jos A Banks? - Quality and Fit wise?
2. Has anyone ordered them online? Apparently they walk you through how to do the measurements, you plug them online, then the send you the suit. If you need to re-tailor, they give you up to 75 bucks.
3. Has anyone been to the showroom in NYC? - seems ideal compared to doing measurements yourself.
I got a suit from them 2-3 years ago. I still wear it today and has held up nicely. I measured myself, first version was a bit tight so I had it re-made (free). Otherwise I have no complaints and would assume its even better today
I bought four suits close to two years ago. Quality for the price paid is great, I've had no problems so far other than a pant button falling off.
I ordered one suit based on the measurement system and it came in a little short in the legs but was able to get it altered without sending it back. Added length to the next three suits and they all turned out fine after that.
My only gripe is the pant legs are a little too wide for my tastes, but they still appear relatively modern so I can't complain too much.
You can send them any special instructions like tapering the leg openings
Thinking of doing a Navy w/ Pin Strip suit ....
That said ...

or the more aggresive ... this?:

Stick with the wool subtle pinstripe
agreed ... the other one is more of a gimick for rare occasions ... the first is a versatile work horse.

My friend loves Indochino, and looks good in their suits in his non-finance job.
Personally, I swear by tomsfashion.com, but they only come around twice per year, and only to some cities. The advantage they have over Indochino is that they measure you and take some photos of your natural posture and a good feel for the absurdity that is your body. I never had to adjust a suit I bought from them, and I bought 7 of them over the last few years, as well as most of my favorite work shirts. It's worth it if you can time a purchase to their next visit to your city.
I've got an 'essential navy' suit from indochino, fit me great first go but the buttons on the jacket sleeves were all bunched and looked crap, took it to a tailor and got them fixed up and all other buttons secured tightly (just to use up the $75). Never had any problems
I had a tux made by them this past summer. I had to get it completely retailored; it was too baggy in the arms and legs, and I had to take in the back of the jacket along the three seams. While their customer service was fantastic and Indochino did absorb the costs for all the repairs, it taught me that there is more to getting the right fit than plugging in a bunch of measurements into a website. Having a tailor that knows how you want to wear a jacket and/or a pair of pants is the best way to go. I would only by Indochino suit if I had a good tailor I trusted to fix the inevitable flaws.
Indochino - garbage for anyone else? (Originally Posted: 03/27/2014)
I've had my indochino suit for a year now. At first I was thrilled.
I don't wear it much, I have worn it maybe 12-15 times over the year, and I just noticed that the pants seem to have worn out in the seat. The fabric is visibly deformed, it looks like I was rubbing my ass on sand paper.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Wearing my today that I've had for two years...haven't noticed anything like that. Though the pants are a bit on the slim side
I should add that I own the essential suit, not premium. There is a difference in material quality.
same, the essential gray suit. No issues yet
OP, did you get yours on Canal Street?
Online order.
I'm personally wary of online ordering a suit. I think that the concept of ordering online to emulate the in-person experience of getting fitted just doesn't work. But at the same time, I'm not surprised with OP's issues.
Let Indochino know, I'm sure they would accommodate you.
Personally, I need to hold someone accountable when I buy something like a suit. I can't really do that over the internet.
I'd hit up their customer service. IMO, these suits are all about the same quality (JCrew, Suit Supply, Banana, Indo, etc).
