Investment Bankers are lazy?

I was at an NYC bar this weekend with an IB buddy from college working at GS this weekend and my buddy was called lazy! All night we were trying to avoid the fact that I work for Bain and he works for GS, but eventually it came up. After our occupations came out we were both called "lazy" and "overpaird" and "addicts" but are we really overpaid?

Last week I worked 80hrs and my buddy worked 83hrs, how it that lazy? That got me thinking, I make ~85k a year, which is comes out to about $20/hr and my buddy all in comp is 75k which comes out to roughly 18 dollars an hour! Since when is making 20 dollars an hour overpaid? We make 85k an year because we work our asses off, we aren't lazy and we aren't overpaid. Anyone else tired of being called overpaid and lazy?

No point to this thread, more of a rant, I must be on co***ne.

The intelligence level of an average person in an average NYC bar is not too high. The fact that you take this so personal makes me wonder whether you work at Bain ...

ladubs111sounds like MO/BO comp but holy fuck that's a lot of hours for those roles.

Its FO but he slept with his MDs wife.... Doubt he's getting a bonus. Is that fair to say?

might get 200k instead

85k... that's why I would never go into consulting. And if your story is true, your buddy just paid for a $60k hooker. That's his fault he's only making $20/hr. Seriously though, how did he not get fired?

Not lazy but, if you failed to mention your 80+ weeks, or at least say something, that was pretty beta. Stop embarassing the profession...

How the fuck is your friend still employed after sleeping with the MD's wife? If I was the MD, I would throw your ass out, along with my wife, unless there isn't a prenup.

op is trolling. bain ppl work 50 hours a week at best.

if they worked banking hours romney might have made more money, but since he's just a consultant he didnt even make a cool billion. give me a break founding your own pe shop and not even getting a cool billion, only a consultant could do that :/
