Is analyst or industry experience more important for pre-MBA consulting if the ultimate goal is F500 C-suite?
Hi,
I plan to do tier 1/tier 2 (hopefully MBB) consulting in the future. My ultimate goal is to obtain a C-suite or similar position in a F500 tech company. My undergrad major will be engineering.
I have heard mixed things about choosing an analyst position right out of ug. Can you guys provide some information regarding the benefits an analyst position over a couple years in the industry? Either way, after the analyst or industry experience I would want to go for an MBA and then go/return into consulting for a couple years before exiting into a desired position.
Keeping in mind my end goal, can anyone provide input to whether an analyst position or industry position (also at top company) would be more useful? Also the specific major at this point have to correlate to the industry I want to exit to? (mechanical, electrical, industrial)
