Jealous manager-what next

I was working OT the other day and saw the new starter (a girl) from the office next door struggling with changing parts of an instrument (I work in a lab). I helped her and as a return of favour she drove me home (I don’t drive, I work in the outskirts of a city in the U.K.) We went on to have dinner and a drink in the local bar. The next day my manager asked if I pissed the manager next door off and I said I have not even talked to him in the past month. Turns out my bro told me the manager next door fancies that girl and what happened upsetted him. It sounds very dodgy to me as she just got hired. He is now targeting me and have filed a complaint about me (work related but totally unreasonable). What should I do?

I am now having 2 options:

1) An offer with scholarship to do PhD in chemistry in January.

2) Stay and have my promotion. I’m getting on very well with my boss, but I think things will be hard from now on.

Guys, let me know what you think, serious advice needed!

Don’t think the girl will go out with me, she just thinks I’m “the nice guy next door who can help me with anything ” and the relationship is more professional than personal.

Seriously I wanted to file a complaint back, but there is no evidence as such…

Apply for roles elsewhere or pursue the PhD. Unfortunately, you have courted very negative attention from management. The manager who you pissed off will most likely advocate against your promotion at all costs and it appears that everyone knows about it (since you heard the news from your "bro"). This is out of your control and it's best to take the L and move on.

I would try and fuck the girl and make sure the manager knows it, and start looking for another job or the Phd ASAP. If you she doesn't like you, then just be her super friend so that you piss the fuck out of the manager.

I hate these weenie babies that retaliate when the can't get girls and makes me wanna piss them more and more lol

Not great practice to run away from a situation like this. Secondly, the pervert needs to get a life. It's his problem not yours. Stay if you want to unless you really want a doctorate then go for it.

SafariJoe, wins again!

Yes, it is complicated. Everything looks so dodgy to me, it is like a late 30’s manager praying on a 22 yo girl coming out of university.

But yeah, I think I’m gonna take the promotion next month and resign, and do my doctorate in Jan.

Great, glad you had made your decision. I loved studying Chemistry up to university level.

Talk to the girl about the issue and ask her for support in the story if you are filing it. You can file something with her that wouldn't compromise her role and have her as witness or proof in the case. And leave to do your PhD and return. 10/10 the company will hire you again and give you even a better pay+a promotion as your status got pumped by the degree. If this staying and getting a promotion is about that fling with the girl and you actually liking her. Reassess if you really love her and follow your heart. Money doesn't mean anything if you can't enjoy it/spend the rest of your midlife+ dwelling on that girl next door.

What kind of mama's basement dwelling intern are you.

1. It's a professional relationship. Treat her like a coworker whom is equal in gender. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Why take the other long route? Plus asking your wife or girlfriend for help is fine. What is even on your mind. Bet you are that type of person at the party who goes around cockblocking people and telling them to keep them hands to yourself because they should be "gentlemens" like you (but in reality you say that because you can't woo anyone)

2. Firms will wait for you if you will add something valuable. In this case OP a chemist and have might have more experience and knowledge about his product/company than a PhD who just got hired. Again, your words rebut themselves. A chemist lab/product will take 3-5 years to complete/gain experience in just like a PhD. Unless the replacement "like a fucking MBA" discovered the Bose-Einstein condensate or some shit I doubt he will be able to continue with OP's study notes.
