Keep the fire burning

~6 months ago, I started a new role in ER after a 6 month networking / hunting extravaganza. I spent a significant amount of time developing relationships with a number of industry professionals. However, now that I am in my new role, I haven't kept in touch with my network base and would like to continue to foster those relationships before they run cold. What is the best means of doing so? Email an update? Set up a catch-up call?

ps. I am not in NYC and a majority of my contacts are based there, so coffee/lunch is off the table.
