Lack luster GPA but determined to break into ER/IB... seeking advice!
Hello WSO members!
I am a recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada). I graduated with a BA hon. economics with specialization in finance.
TL;DR a sudden switch from art to business in highschool left me with a lack of direction in my junior years that resulted in a poor overall GPA. However, after finding my passion for finance in third year, I got my mind together and did pretty decent in my senior years (B+ average for the last 2 years). I'll be writing the CFA Level 1 this upcoming December.
Currently, I have no work experience but I am super excited to start as a investment representative at TD. I want to get into ER/IB sometime in the future but I am unsure of what the best approach would be. I realize that the odds are definitely stacked against me as this is a very competitive field and I'm not from a target school. However, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get myself there.
I am seeking advice on how I could potentially break into these industries. I am aware of the importance of networking and I have been trying my best to network for the past year or so.
Thank you for taking the time to read/comment on my post!
