Lazard / Lazard Diversity Day

Hey y'all,

I have been sifting through WSO trying to find some info on Lazard (as a firm) and, more specifically, Lazard's Sophomore Diversity Days with no luck. The information/insight that I came across was either not relevant or outdated. That said, can anyone shine some light on:

  • What to expect/how to prepare for Lazard's Diversity Day

  • Lazard's current standing

  • Lazard's deal flow

  • Lazard's comp

  • Exit ops from Lazard

  • Any info you feel is relevant

I really want to make a solid impression, so thanks in advance for this :)

From a deal flow perspective, Lazard closed 109 deals worth about 275 billion dollars in 2018 with some of their largest deals being:

  • Cigna - Express Scripts ($67.6Bn)

  • Innogy - E.ON ($46.6Bn)

  • Red Hat - IBM ($32.5Bn)

  • Energia de Portugal - China Three Gorges Corporation ($23.3Bn).

They've also done some smaller but still notable deals in Asia:

  • Showa Shell Sekiyu KK - Idemitsu Kosan Co ($5.7Bn)

Fair to say deal flow is pretty solid

I already received an invite.

I was just unsure about how I should prepare. I read through and took notes on the firm's website (i.e firm history, e-board, financial advisory, deal history), but I want to ensure I make a really solid impression.

The diversity day is very chill. A few speakers, a few group case studies with analysts, a few presentations, some time to network with analysts, and some time to learn more about the firm with Q&A. Usually about 30 kids in attendance, all very high performing sophomores, probably 70/30 Target/Non-target. Attending this gives you priority status when applying for their SA program, not a guaranteed super day, but almost. You will absolutely learn a ton about their culture and see if it's a good fit for you. Obv, Laz is a solid EB. Comp/Deal flow/Exit opps are on par with other EB's. Really wouldn't worry about all that right now though.

I got invited to a sophomore dinner but was unable to attend due to schedule conflict. They sent the invite like 5 days before it is supposed to happen
