Lazard San Francisco Office

I heard that Lazard San Francisco is still actually offering interviews for the healthcare group (not sure about tech). Not sure if it's worth interviewing for. I've heard it's a pretty strong group but these are from older threads. Any updated opinions/views?

Friend worked there 3 years ago, workload is brutal and no one cares about personal life - every pitch is super specific and my friend worked almost every weekend. Worst part is that they pitch against Centerview and always lose so the vicious cycle starts again

Lazard SF is top in healthcare second only to probably CVP at the moment. If you're interested in healthcare, it's definitely a no-brainer if you can get the offer. You'll get a lot of deal flow experience and a better understanding of the industry since Laz has a strong financial advisory focus. But the work hours will be tough. If you have broader interests, it might be better to go generalist in Lazard NY and consider specializing in HC if you receive the full-time offer. As mentioned previously, you can't evaluate HC divisions on exits, most go to VC, corp/b dev, grad school (including medical), and sometimes hedge funds. Not the standard IB/PE route you'd see more often in generalist or tech M&A.

^ R you referring to west coast HC? CVP is top dog EB in that space. JPM has a small HC group in SF -- global head sits there.

LAZ SF for tech --> google consulting role essentially. few smaller M&A deals annualy.

Not sure about LAZ hc -- no contacts there.

Laz group in tech speicially will shoot you out to most VC / GE / and LMM --> MM pe spots (maybe, unsure though).

If you want upper MM / MF tech based PE, that's gonna be out of the questions for this group.

Why UMM/MF PE is not possible for LAZ SF Tech? Would you say the same about EVR/MOE/PJT/CVP SF Tech as well? What about BBs in SF? Thanks
