Los Angeles Financial Sponsors Groups

Hey, New to WSO and am looking to recruit for a SA internship next fall. I go to a target school in the east coast but am originally from LA. I decided that I'll probably stay in the west coast upon graduation.

I'm looking to ultimately recruit for PE after my analyst stint, therefore Financial Sponsors is probably the group I'm most interested in. I know the west coast has some solid FSG shops, but was wondering if someone can fill me in? As I don't go to school here, it's a bit hard to know. Been reading through the forums but many of them are outdated and I would like some more feedback.

Looking for feedback specifically on: CS LA Barclays LA MS SF (FSG not TMT) BAML SF (I believe they have a small FSG shop?) Wells Fargo SF Any other notable west coast FSG groups I may have missed

Would like to know more about exit opps, culture, and pay/perks

Thanks.

While I'm sure M&A and Lev Fin place well, I've heard that top FSG groups (CS, MS, Barclays) also place well into PE, since they're primarily working with PE firms.

Maybe someone with expertise here can shed some light on this?

Barclays LA has excellent placement, plus their work/life balance is probably the best on the street. CS LA is a sweatshop, but places well. Moelis' (they do a good amount of sponsor work) work/life is improving by quite a bit, and they place really well.

CS LA is a top group, but their culture/worklife sucks. BAML SF and Barclays LA are tiny groups, but I believe they are well regarded in the FSG space. Maybe someone can elaborate here since I don't know too much about them.

Does anyone know if there are even any other west coast FSG groups besides the one OP listed?
