Master in Science Programs

New to the site so bear with me. I am looking to get into Sales/Trading in NYC (preferably) and decided to get a MSF. Got into WUSTL and BC. Anyone current/former students here? What are your thoughts on the program and it's recruiting prospects?

You're welcome.

WUSTL over BC. BC is a great program, but it feels like more of a work experience/professional program. I like the changes WUSTL is making also.

BC really hasn't been receptive towards talking with me. Kinda annoying, but oh well.

WUSTL shits on BC .....nothing personal....it just does...BC is simply not in the same league....and Princeton and MIT basically SHIT on WUSTL........Vandy is prob 4th...after that get an MBA with a focus in Finance at Booth bc the MSFs below are not worth the $$$

Im no expert on the MSF degree but Vandy looks like it doesn't have very good placement. Shame too because there is a lot of flexibility in the program and I think it looks really good.

This guy obviously is a moron. I can attest to the ROI from my Villanova MSF. WUSTL also 100% DOES NOT shit on BC.

Saying that outside of MIT, Princeton, WUSTL and BC you should get an MBA in finance is complete retarded. Ignored Vanderbilt, Tulane, Claremont McKenna, Villanova, UIUC, Purdue, etc. Lot of great schools offering an MSF that is much cheaper than 2 years at a mid range MBA program.

Completely agree, although your sentence structure makes you sound illiterate. I'd rather kill myself than go to Vandy jesus christ for the love of god, have some dignity and don't go there.

PS. One time I let a man go down on me, it doesn't make me gay or does it? Just saying.

Really, you again. Stop hating on everyone you are a complete and total tool. I seriously doubt you are a 4.0 Harvard grad raking in 6 figures in an upper level management position. Some people on the board are looking for legitimate answers to their questions, not the imbecile responses you pull out of your ass.

What people are also failing to realize is that along with another shot at recruiting and different alumni network, the MSF pays off after 3-4 years of working. Outside of banking, the MSF is a pretty solid MBA replacement.

Vanderbilt has pretty damn good placement if you ask me. You need to understand the MSF before you can judge placements. Comparing an MSF program's placements with say Wharton MBA's is completely fucked up. The MSF has a mixture of three types of people.

1) 5th year seniors. These people don't want to go into the world right away so they get their masters. Their placements tend to either be great or suck ass, no middle ground.

2) People who worked for a little and are coming back. I feel into this (although I was almost MBA level with the work I did). These people have a much different perspective and tend to be more focused. Their placements are either great or good. The MSF can also be used as an MBA substitute (I can attest to this).

3) International students/late stage finance wanna be's/ people who got their shit together too late for UG OCR, but need one more year. These people tend to do pretty well. They really take advantage of things and know what they want.

In my class you had your share of late bloomers. Without truly understanding the MSF degree you can come to the wrong conclusion. Same with WUSTL and Vandy.

My degree cost 30K. We had people placed into banking, PE, F500, PhD's, credit analyst programs, consulting, etc. Many of these students came from schools with weak alumni bases or limited recruiting opportunities.

--- Try knowing a little bit about a subject before you open your mouth. Might save yourself from looking like a fool. Just some friendly advice.

Vandy is great program. Even though I am farrrrrrrrr inferior to the princes all seeing powers, I think I can speak on this subject.

Hmmm, why? Maybe because I know all the past fucking placements. Wow. Maybe my data point is better than one kid recruiting at one shop. Maybe I know all the Villanova placements also. Maybe I know Claremont McKenna placements. Maybe I have friends at most other programs.

Naa, don't listen to me. Listen to the all seeing genius.

I am at WUSTL MSF right now. I've already spoken to a few prospective MSF'ers on this site and would be glad to speak to anyone who has questions. Just PM me. A few of the comments here are obviously just opinions, it's too bad people can't be a little more mature and stop saying certain programs shit on others. The only program out there that can definitively be considered far superior to any other MSF is Princeton. At MIT you are going to pay about 100K all-in for placements that are only slightly better (if at all) than WUSTL MSF. To blindly say that that program shits on all others is retarded and misguided. Just look at the placements, curriculum, and cost of these programs and you'll see what I mean.

P.S. Don't argue with ANT on this topic. I can attest to the fact that he clearly knows way more than anyone on any online forum about these programs. For gods sake he's got a website running with 99% of the programs listed and he's spoken to directors of almost all of these programs. Plus he has friends at all the best programs too. Just make it easy on yourself and listen to what he says instead of arguing.

I am starting my MSF this Fall as well, and I think it can be unfair to compare the programs like that when we are talking about a selected few which are great in their own way, and all of them have their pros and cons. For an instance, if you want to work in energy, who's to say that Tulane wouldn't be better than Princeton or MIT? I think is a matter of fitting the school to your goals and your personal characteristics.

@backtoschooooool, I'd take into consideration the first advice ANT gave you, but try to get to know the schools and programs as much as you can - you never know which one you'll like best.

And if I may get a little back to the first question of the topic and extend it: WUSTL, Vandy, UIUC or Tulane? Which would be their pros/cons? Are they at the same level? What do you guys think?

Thanks!

ANT:
Lol. I'm way more calm than Charlie in real life.
....and here you are a warlock. Seriously dude, you've made some REALLY good points over time that have made a lot of sense and forced me to rethink things. If you're insulted by my suggestion, I will retract it.
