Morgan Stanley Inside Access Day 2014
Curious about this event, it seems to be a little earlier this year. Can anyone who has attended one of these days in the past give a little color about what actually happens at the event, e.g. how many people are invited, are you broken down into section based on the division preferences you entered in the application, etc.? Read over the 2012 and 2013 threads in this forum but there are more questions than answers—any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No, non-core school, so there might be a different process for me as opposed to a student from a core school.
I got an email from an associate asking to catch up over the phone. When we spoke he said I should find out by the end of this week or early next week.

Just heard back and got invited to the conferences? Anybody know how this affects chances for SA recruitment.

Got the invite a couple hours ago as well, really hoping to hear from someone who has attended in a prior year. School is non-core for MS.
I just got invited as well from non target Virginia Tech. I believe it is a big networking event. You learn about individual divisions and then after you get a chance to talk to employees. They said travel is covered but what about hotel? Fly there and back same day?

You fly in and out on the same day. From what I understand, it's primarily for non-core schools to get to know MS, meet people across different divisions (WM, ER, IB, S and T etc) and see the office. It's a fun day, very informative and I know a few people who went to MS, though this was because they networked, too and wasn't dependent exclusively on the program being a feeder for the coming SA class.

For those who did not get acceptance into the inside access day (me included), I am curious as to what the content of the rejection emails said.
It's a typical college rejection letter. "Thanks for applying! We are not saying you are not awesome but we just get too many applications so...but THANKS!!"
I'm a CS major from a small women's college...and applied for this on a whim and got in. Is there anything specific they're looking for? What can I expect from this event? I'm a little overwhelmed and I don't really know where to start reading on this forum.
Given the relative lack of information on this event from past years, I'll briefly share my experience from this year.
There were about ~80 people there from about 50 different schools. It is an event for MS' noncore schools, with emphasis on "focus" schools where they have some alumni presence but do not really recruit from. This means no Harvard/Wharton/Columbia/NYU/Georgetown/etc kids, the highest represented were BC, JHU, and Colgate I think. Seems a bunch of people knew someone within the bank or got invited through referral but certainly a lot of people just applied cold and got in.
It's an all day event that kicks off with two high-ranking MDs highlighting their experience at MS and different divisions within MS. You are broken down into ten groups at round tables in a large conference room. There is no divide with regard to which division(s) you indicated you were interested in. The speeches were followed by a small panel and Q&A with analysts from all divisions. You are then taken on a tour of a trading floor, after which there was a brief Q&A session with division-specific recruiters. Everyone then returned to the round tables for lunch, we were joined by some analysts/associates who rotated across the tables to detail their roles and experiences at MS.
After lunch we were again broken down into groups and attended an interview workshop where a VP and Associate went over some of the key do's and dont's and answered our questions about the interview process. This was followed by mock interviews conducted by MS employees, mostly 1-on-1 or 1-on-2, somewhat tailored toward your divisional preferences but not too intense nor intimidating. The event was capped off by a large open networking session with yet more MS employees across all divisions, and more good food.
Overall it was a fun event, very well planned out and organized with an impressive number of MS employees participating. I would definitely recommend it for future noncore monkeys trying to break into MS, your resume will get circulated around and the recruiters seem to be keen on prepping this pool of kids and hopefully pushing us into the process, especially for kids who follow up with people they met at the event.
