Curious as well
PE: Warburg, KKR TMT, H&F, Thoma Bravo, Vista
GE: General Atlantic, TA, Insight
VC/GE: A16z, Sequoia, Lightspeed
Not sure I would include Thoma on this list but not include Silver Lake.
At one of those first three groups. Your opportunities are broad with people going to tech PE, growth, VC, startups, corp dev, and tech focused hedge funds. The top groups will get your foot in the door at a lot of top opportunities so it's a matter of deciding what you're interested in and being prepared. I've seen people go to general PE roles or non-tech groups as well from time to time but this isn't common since there isn't much interest for it within tech IB.
Summered at one of the first three. I'd also say it's quite difficult to pursue NY opps from one of the west coast offices. If your end goal is NY PE/GE/VC, would try to move to NY FT.
Do most of the tech focused groups recruit on cycle like traditional PE?

don't expect to get any good exits coming out of JP Morgan Tech IB, specifically SF group you're lucky if you get a strategic finance associate role
Is their SF tech group really that bad? have seen good buyside exits from NY
people seem to shit on the group alot on wso for some reason when they are the clear 3rd after gs/ms in terms of BB tech groups.. work in the space and this is a very common opinion. Will have buyside opps but its based on the candidate.. once you are at this level of firm the specific group is marginal and it comes down to how you perform during interview. A bum from GS TMT is not placing better than a super prepped candidate from JPM and if you honestly believe that you have never worked in the industry.
