Sapphire started as SAP's corporate venture capital arm but then it spun out as an independent firm and subsequently rebranded to Sapphire a few years ago. They have 3 main groups - a venture fund of funds, a consumer/entertainment-focused fund (seems like the most fun imo), and then a more enterprise/fintech/saas-focused fund. They have several billions of dollars in AUM and some good names in the portfolio. It does seem like they come into the "blue chip" companies in the later stages though like at the Series C+.

I've been in the VC market for quite a while. Sapphire is the worst employer ever (not even one of). The investment, IR, back office team is just a mess and incapable. No matter how much trust you've built, you always get questioned for no reason! They have a culture of micromanagement due to the always lack of trust. Senior people blindly agree/say yes to those in power and in charge. Run as away as possible. Heard that they've lost a lot of great people over the past few years. Not surprised at alll. No recommendations.
